ALBANY -- Albert Lane, 93, a Linn County resident since 1948, died Thursday at Timberview Care Center.

He was born in Texas to Albert and Ellen (Eldridge) Lane and grew up there. As a young man he moved to Colorado where, in Vona, he married Doris Esther Thompson on Nov. 30, 1933.

The Lanes lived in Texas and Arizona before moving to Halsey in 1948. In April 2000, he moved to Camlu in Albany.

Mr. Lane worked for the Halsey school for 13 years and then worked at a sawmill and plywood mill near Junction City until his retirement.

He was a member of the Halsey Christian Church, the plywood workers union and the Western Council of Industrial Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Albany; son Daniel Lane of Salem; daughter Alberta Tapp of Wilsonville; brother Sam Lane of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mr. Lane will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Halsey. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Halsey Methodist Church.
