CORVALLIS — Jamie Harms, a student at Oregon State University, will perform a piano recital at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Benton Hall room 303 on the Oregon State University campus.

The recital is in partial fulfillment of Harms' honors thesis. She will complete a bachelor of science in mathematics with a minor in music this March. Harms has studied piano for 17 years and studies under Dr. Rachelle McCabe.

Harms will perform "Sonata in E Major" and "Sonata in G Major, K427," by Domenico Scarlatti; "Papillons, Op.2," by Robert Schumann; "Sonetto 123 del Petrarca," by Franz Liszt; "La Cathedrale Engloutie, " by Claude Debussy; and "Danzas Argentinas," by Alberto Ginastera. Prior to performing, Harms will present a lecture on the performance practices and techniques used in the musical interpretation of the recital pieces. The lecture begins at 6 p.m. and the recital begins at 7 p.m. Both events are free. For more information, call 737-4061.
