Philomath schools hold science fair

PHILOMATH — The Philomath School District will hold its annual Science & Technology Fair Saturday at Philomath Elementary School.

Public viewing of the more than 100 entries by students in all grades begins at 10:45 a.m. A robotics display will happen at noon.

All students in the Philomath area, including home schooled and private school students, are represented.

Among the displays this year are intriguing topics such as "Roly Poly: A study of garden bugs emerging from round ball shapes" and "Rock Tumbling" among the kindergarten entries, to topics such as "Do twins really think alike?" and "Generation of bio-diesel in a home reactor" by high school students.

The Philomath Schools Parent Club, with the assistance of Ann Clark, will provide fun science activities for the students during the "Judging Time Activities" from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

For more information, contact this year's coordinator, Jeff McMorran, at 929-6638 or mcmorranj@juno.com; or Robert Siegel, director of curriculum and student services, at 929-2537 or robert_siegel@ philomath.k12.or.us.
