SWEET HOME — Summer camping in the Sweet Home Ranger District begins Saturday with the opening of Trout Creek, Yukwah, Fernview and House Rock campgrounds, the Forest Service has announced.

The four developed recreation sites are operated by Jan and Fred Wellhouser of South Santiam Services. Campgrounds will close for the 2004 summer season on Oct. 30.

Lost Prairie campground will open Thursday, May 20, and is operated by Hoodoo Concessionaire.

Camping fees are $10 per night with an additional $5 for a second vehicle. Campgrounds have vault toilets and hand pumped water. RV lengths are restricted in some of the campgrounds. Camping is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Longbow Organization Camp is a reservation only group site that rents for $75 per night weekdays and $85 per night weekends and holidays. The site accommodates up to 50 people. To make reservations call toll free 877-44-6777 or e-mail www.reserveUSA.com.
