Much-seen film ‘Jesus' will go onto Internet

Twenty-five years since its theatrical release, the world's most-watched movie, "Jesus," will make its Internet debut Tuesday.

The effort will allow people to see the two-hour film online in more than 300 separate language translations.

The "Jesus" movie was originally distributed to theaters in the United States in 1979 by Warner Bros. Shortly after, the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry launched its Jesus Film Project in which the movie was converted to 8mm, 16mm and 35mm print formats and taken to some of the most remote places on Earth by thousands of staff and volunteers toting generators, portable projectors and screens.

In the last 25 years, in 228 countries on six continents, there have been more than 5 billion viewings of the film. It has been translated into more than 800 different tongues. Now, through the use of a Streaming OS System, people worldwide will be able to see the movie n most in their own language — at www.JesusFilm.org.

According to Jim Green, executive director of the Jesus Film Project, the 300 translations available online represent the heart language of more than 90 percent of the world's population.
