Officers & Directors

Karla Chambers of Corvallis has been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Her term begins this January.

The board of directors provides the Federal Reserve system with industry and regional economic information that is used by the Federal Open Market Committee and the board of governors in reaching decisions about monetary policy.

Information from directors and other sources gathered by the reserve banks is also shared with the public in a report informally called the Beige Book. Reserve bank directors also recommend changes to the discount rate.

Chambers is the vice president and co-owner of Stahlbush Island Farms, a 2,500-acre farming and food processing company based in Corvallis. Chambers served on the board of the Portland branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2003 to 2004 and was the vice chair of the 12th District Advisory Council from 1992 to 1995.

Shannon Jones of Randy Jones Chevrolet Mitsubishi has graduated from the Dealer Candidate Academy of the National Automobile Dealers Association. This specialized training curriculum is designed to prepare dealer-successors and key management personnel to operate a new car or truck dealership.

The academy is a 12-month apprenticeship course in dealership management that combines six weeks of classroom study with 45 weeks of in-dealership training. Jones received a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing from Northern State University in Aberdeen, N.D.

Paul Lorenzen, general manager of Timberhill Shopping Center in Corvallis, said rumors about new construction on the northeast corner of the property are not true.

There isn't any new construction taking place at the moment, Lorenzen said, and no lease has been signed yet with a new restaurant.

The shopping center was instructed by the City of Corvallis to remove the large dirt pile that has been at the site for over a year. Timberhill began excavation on the site in September 2003 to make way for a new tenant.
