Pizza helps finance Waldorf
The Corvallis Waldorf School would like to thank The Pizza Peddler for its generous support of our fund-raising efforts. Rob, the owner of the Pizza Peddler, has generously agreed to provide pizza at a discount every Thursday so we can sell pizza to the Waldorf community. The money raised during Pizza Thursday helps fund specialty classes at the school, such as German, Spanish, handwork, art and music.
Thank you, Pizza Peddler, for your generosity in supporting the Corvallis Waldorf School.

Peak helped fund Web site for troops
My husband asked me, "What do you want for Christmas?" I said I wanted to keep my Web site going for our troops. I had been diagnosed with cancer from a breast cancer in 1986.
He phoned Peak, our Web site manager, and they called me, and two men went to the Web site and said "I think we can do this." I offered to pay them, and they said "No."
The last time my Web site, http://neverforgetthem2002.
com, was touched was in June. Today it has been updated with letters and pictures from our troops. Thanks to those wonderful men, Tim and Gary. How does one thank one? Maybe by putting it in the paper for all to read. What a blessing and a gift. I won't ever forget. Thank you, Peak.

Thanks for care at Corvallis Manor
My mother, Doris Powell, was recently moved to a special care Alzhiemer's facility after residing at Corvallis Manor for nearly two years.
I would like to thank everyone at Corvallis Manor who took such special and loving care of my mother. We never felt that she was a patient, but part of a caring family.
Special thanks to nursing supervisor, Karen Seacrest, who "adopted" Mom and treated her with love, humor and always with dignity.
A heartfelt thanks to all of the nurses, aides, rehab staff, Joanne in accounting, social worker Joanie Vandervelt, the kitchen staff, the laundry and housekeeping staff; Brent, the activities director, and Cheri Gustafson, R.N., the admissions coordinator who welcomed us and made the admissions process a seamless and caring event for a very nervous family.
We will miss all your smiling faces.

Foundation gift will help CASA kids
On behalf of the staff and the board of directors of CASA-Voices for Children, I would like to convey our sincere gratitude to The Oregon Community Foundation for its generous donation.
These funds will be used to advocate for the abused and neglected children in Benton County. Each year, there are about 100 young victims here. Our volunteers work to give these children a safe, permanent home free from abuse and neglect, providing 15,000 hours of their time annually to advocate for the most vulnerable members of our community.
At a time when there are so many children who need a voice in court, this gift will truly make a difference.

Building a fence built good will
I'd like to extend a gracious thank you to Dave Sumners of Corvallis Fence. Mr. Sumners recently made a wonderful, unselfish donation of compassion and kindness and peace of mind to the family of a Corvallis resident while he serves our nation in Iraq.
While home in Corvallis on leave from Iraq, my friend Geoff and his wife, Lara, set out to replace the fence surrounding their home. Try as they may, the fence was not completed when Geoff returned to Iraq. The recent attacks on women in Corvallis and Albany brought urgency to completing the fence.
After calling several fence companies in Corvallis and Albany and getting the runaround, I called Mr. Sumners. It turned out that he had been hired by Lara and Geoff to help them set the fence posts and was familiar with the job. He immediately offered his assistance. Not only did he do a beautiful job completing the fence, but he donated his time and the materials. The peace of mind that he provided for Geoff and friends of their family is immeasurable. Thanks again, for your selfless act and kindness, Mr. Sumners!

Garden project yielded bounty
On behalf of the clients and volunteers of the Tunison Food Bank, I would like to express deep appreciation to the young people who participated in the Youth Garden Project, a program of the Corvallis Environmental Center.
Throughout the summer and autumn, these teens raised and provided fresh produce for Tunison Food Bank and Stone Soup. With the support of coordinator Tracy Noel and teachers Scott Clark and Kathe Burt, they donated more than 200 hours and supplied more than 1,200 pounds of produce.
Thanks to Willamette Valley Community School students Bo Christiansen, Leanne Martinez, Alex Spaeth, Kevin Brauner, Elizabeth Higgins, Arely Juarez, Michael Hom, Celina Martinez and Andres Juarez. Their contributions to feeding people in need in Corvallis are greatly appreciated.

Fairgrounds lights shine brighter
The Benton County Fairgrounds board and staff want to recognize the Benton County Fairgrounds Foundation and all of its contributors for their generous ongoing support for improving the fairgrounds.
Most recently, the foundation funded installation of new lights in Guerber Hall. This improvement not only provides better lighting for all the activities scheduled in the hall, but it also enhances the work of the fairgrounds to continually upgrade utilities efficiency.
With this new lighting and the new tables and chairs purchased with Foundation funding, Guerber Hall offers renters a wonderful place for banquets, parties and receptions.

Parents say thanks for arts event
The Linus Pauling Middle School parent group, students and staff thank the community members who supported our "Collusion of the Arts" event Dec. 9. The well-attended evening began with a book fair and art display in the lobby.
On display was art by Kerry McFall and Susan Kristoferson, designed and produced with the help of Linus Pauling students, and masks produced by students in Joel Weinstein's art class.
The school's intermediate and advanced bands performed under the direction of Marshall Price. The evening concluded with an ice cream social.
We greatly appreciate the support of Winco Foods, Safeway, Quest Wholesale, Albertsons, Starbuck's and the fine young men of Delta Upsilon Fraternity for their contributions. They all helped to make this evening a success.
The education of our students is truly a community effort. Thank you, again, to all of those people who donated time and money to this event.
