Coffin Butte air permit to be reviewed

ADAIR VILLAGE — The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has proposed to renew the air quality permit for Power Resources Cooperative, which creates energy from methane gas at the Coffin Butte Landfill.

A copy of the draft permit and review report is available at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 N.W. Monroe Ave.

The new proposal would increase the permitted emissions per year for many pollutants. However, the anticipated emissions still are less than what is currently permitted in every category, according to DEQ. The facility has complied with the previous permit conditions.

Written comments on the proposal can be sent to Patty Hamman with the DEQ by fax at (503) 378-4196; by e-mail at hamman.patricia@deq.state.or.us; or by mail to 750 Front St. N.E., Suite 120, Salem, OR 97301-1039.
