People on the Move

Selco Community Credit Union has named Darin Klarr manager of its new Albany branch, scheduled to open in June. Klarr has been serving as the financial services lead person at Selco's Bend office. He has worked at Selco since graduating from Oregon State University in 1997.

Joni L. King has joined ArtCentric, the regional arts council based in Corvallis, as the ArtShop manager. ArtShop revenues help support the nonprofit organization's programs. King, a former Corvallis resident with a background in graphic design, is returning to the area after living in Portland.

Barbara Thayer has joined the Albany office of RE/Max 2000 as a broker. She is a graduate of Oregon State University.

Umpqua Bank has hired Brian McElligott as a residential mortgage loan representative in its Albany branch. McElligott has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Oregon State University. He has three years of lending experience and was previously the store manager for Wells Fargo Financial in Albany.

Gary Overcash has been hired by AmeriTitle to serve as the company's Benton County manager in Corvallis. Overcash has been in the title and escrow industry since 1966, most recently as the assistant vice president for sales and underwriting at Fidelity National Title Co. of Oregon in Linn County.

Marcia Woods has joined Northwest Realty Consultants as a broker in the Albany office. Woods has bachelor's and master's degrees in Spanish from California State University at Sacramento. She previously worked for Mexicana Airlines, taught high school and worked as an office manager. She also owned a graphic design business for over seven years. She is a member of the Willamette Valley Multiple Listing Service.

Officers & Directors

Grace Center for Adult Day Services in Corvallis has added John Dezanni and Marla Karow to its board of directors. Dezanni is an attorney with the Evashevski, Elliott, Cihak & Hediger. Karow is a medical social worker with Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Albany.

Steve Boyd, the owner of Maier Roofing Co. in Albany, has been honored by Duro-Last Roofing. The roofing material manufacturer named Boyd to its President's Club in recognition of quality workmanship, customer satisfaction and annual sales in excess of $250,000.

Training & Development

Evan L. Evans and Julie E. Evans of Audiology Associates in Corvallis recently attended a one-day conference in Los Angeles where they received training on fitting a new kind of hearing aid. The Acuris system, made by Siemens Hearing Instruments, uses wireless technology to synchronize hearing instruments in both ears. The two licensed and certified audiologists earned continuing education credits from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology for attending the conference.

Comings & Goings

The Bret Koenig State Farm Insurance Agency has moved to new offices. The Corvallis firm has relocated from 520 N.W. Oak Ave. to 1869 N.W. Ninth St., near Ruby Tuesday. The phone number, 757-1690, and fax number, 757-1288, remain the same. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Applications are being accepted for the Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program, a statewide recognition program honoring farm and ranch families who have worked the same land for at least 100 years. The Salem-Keizer office of The Prudential Real Estate Professionals has been named Prudential's top U.S. office for the fourth year in a row based on closed residential units for 2004. The office's 160 sales brokers sold nearly $475 million in homes in 2,650 transactions. The company also has offices in Albany, Corvallis, Woodburn, Stayton and Eugene.

The U.S. Department of Labor is offering help to employers who want to establish drug-free workplaces. The Working Partners for an Alcohol- and Drug-Free Workplace Web site has resources and tools for developing programs that educate employees about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. JC Whitted of Corvallis has been selected to provide advertising concept, copy and media consultation to the Martha Graham Dance Company for its 2005 season. The assignment includes advertising concept and execution for print, radio, television, collateral and e-mail support through selected media. After the New York season concludes, Whitted is expected to work on the company's world tour marketing and co-author the troupe's first DVD.

Reinvestment

The Albany Partnership for Housing and Community Development has received a $2,000 grant from Bank of America to support its resident services program, which helps clients become more self-sufficient.
