Scott Fisher headlines Fest

Pop stylist Scott Fisher will headline this year's Saturday Night Street Dance at the Fall Festival, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25. While Fisher grew up in Portland, his band is now based in Los Angeles. Fisher is standing on the verge of breaking through to the national mainstream, having received airplay up and down the West Coast. Mixing the soulful style of Elton John with jazzy improvisation and memorable hooks, Fisher describes himself as a cross between Dave Matthews and Thelonious Monk. The Street Dance begins at 6 pm with local musicians, Balafon Marimba Ensemble. The Scott Fisher Band takes the stage at 7:30.

Continuous music from the Main Stage will include two other local groups who've built up strong Northwest followings: Amadan and Eleven Eyes. Amadan plays a punked-out concoction of celtic music, folk and rock stylings, which has been a stead crowd draw in both Corvallis and Portland.

Drawing from the realms of groovy jazz fusion, funk, rock hip-hop and experimental electronic music, Eleven Eyes has been performing for crowds from southern California to Wyoming.

Returning to Corvallis after a few years hiatus are Portland mainstays the Bill Beach Trio. Soloist Annie Weiss, blues group the DK Stewart Quartet, soul group Kathy Walker and the Upshots, and acoustic rock singer Darren Johnson will fill out the performance schedule.
