Two athletes from Arizona verbally committed to the Oregon State football team over the weekend, according to recruiting Web sites.
Running back Clinton Polk out of Scottsdale Community College is headed to OSU, according to Scout.com. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder was a previous OSU recruit out of Phoenix’s Desert Vista High, but spent his first three seasons at the junior college.
He didn’t qualify academically in 2003. After redshirting, he played two seasons with Scottsdale and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Right after the season ended, coach Mike Riley planned to find a secondary ball carrier to Yvenson Bernard for next season out of a junior college.
Keston Kristick of St. Mary’s High in Phoenix committed, according to Rivals.com. He’s a 6-foot-2, 227-pounder who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds.
Rivals considers him the 52nd-best outside linebacker in the country in this class. He was first-team all-region as a linebacker and second-team as a fullback this past season, which attracted attention from many of the Pacific-10 Conference teams.
That brings OSU’s recruiting total to 18 known commitments. The Beavers have 25 scholarships to give before the beginning of the signing period for midterm junior college transfers Dec. 21 and high school players Feb. 1.
