OSU alum shares Oscar glory

Two people with Corvallis ties got a taste of Oscar glory Sunday night, as “King Kong” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” claimed a combined four honors at the 78th annual Academy Awards.

Oregon State University alumnus Danilo Buendia, a motion capture specialist, joined forces with director Peter Jackson’s special effects team for a remake of the classic “King Kong.”

“King Kong” won for visual effects, sound mixing and sound editing.

Corvallis native Steve Griffith, a digital effects coordinator, worked on “The Chronicles of Narnia,” which won for best makeup.
