ATHENS, Ga. — Oregon State freshman Saori Haruguchi finished sixth on Saturday in the 200-yard butterfly and earned her second all-American award at the NCAA women’s swimming championships at the University of Georgia.
Her time was 1:57.98.
She became the fifth, and youngest, all-American in OSU history. The Beavers finished 31st in the team scoring with 14.5 points.
Seeded 10th in the event, she swam a personal-best 1:57.71 in the prelims to move up to the championship heat.
She also placed 15th in the 100 butterfly this past Friday and 38th in the 200 individual medley this past Thursday.
Baseball rankings
Oregon State is ranked 19th in this week’s ESPN/USA Today national baseball coaches poll.
The Beavers (12-7, 1-2 Pacific-10) are also ranked 16th by Baseball America magazine, 19th by Collegiate Baseball newspaper and 15th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.
OSU opened Pac-10 play last weekend, winning one of three games at Southern California to end a stretch that saw Oregon State play 15 of its first 19 games on the road.
This weekend, the Beavers host Utah Valley State at 5 p.m. Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The series begins a four-week stretch in which OSU plays 12 of its next 15 games at home.
