Golf Scramble set

The 33rd annual OSU Golf Scramble will be June 5 at the Tualatin Country Club, and registration for the event is on-going.

Proceeds benefit the men’s golf team, and in past years have helped purchase new equipment, improve the practice facilities and pay for trips to its various competitions.

After golfing, a dinner and auction will be later in the evening. Some of the auction items include a trip for four to the Masters, a Civil War football package, a Bandon Dunes golf package and a trip with the men’s basketball team for its games at UCLA and USC.

Registration for the golf event is at 11 a.m., followed by a buffet lunch at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and auction at 6:30 p.m.

Cost of a single-player entry is $250, and a four-person team entry is $1,000. Non-golfers who would like to attend the dinner and auction can for $30 each.

Windell selected

Abby Windell has been selected by the NCAA to attend the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference on May 28-June 1.

Windell, a junior middle blocker for the volleyball team, was one of 1,319 athletes from 333 colleges to apply for the conference, held at Disney’s Yacht Beach Club Resort at Buena Vista, Fla. She’ll be one of 352 to attend.

The conference includes daily speaker panels, student presentations and a session surrounding the topic of leadership in athletics. The goal of the conference is to help athletes enhance their leadership skills and help find ways to get campuses better involved with the NCAA.
