Meanwhile, CoHo Cohousing is identifying low-income, first-time homebuyers for the cohousing project on Crystal Lake Drive. Down payment assistance is available through Corvallis Neighborhood Housing Services.
Thirty of the 34 homes are already committed. Three of the remaining four homes are designated for income-qualified households. Completion of the project is scheduled for August 2007.
The neighborhood is designed around a pedestrian pathway and homes are clustered to preserve open space that is owned jointly by the community. A common house is part of the neighborhood, and community meals are prepared and shared several times a week.
