Senior offensive lineman Adam Koets of the Oregon State football team was selected as one of 148 semifinalists for the 2006 Draddy Trophy on Wednesday
The award recognizes an individual for academic success, football performance and exemplary community leadership. The individual also must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average.
Koets, from Santa Ana, Calif., has started 29 consecutive games, and has been selected to the Pacific-10 Conference’s all-academic second-team twice. The international business major is one of four Pac-10 athletes who are semifinalists.
The recipient of the award will receive a $25,000 post-graduate scholarship and a 25-pound bronze trophy.
The National Football Foundation will announce 15 finalists Oct. 26 and the winner will be named Dec. 5. The trophy is named after former Manhattan College quarterback Vincent dePaul Draddy.
