‘Drawing Together’ benefits Benton County Arc

Newport — The Arc Gallery of Benton County invites art lovers and artists to attend “Drawing Together,” a fund-raiser at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Two figure-drawing sessions will be offered: one in the classroom with assistance from artist and Oregon State University professor Karen Clark and another with the aquarium’s shark tank as the backdrop. Both sessions feature live figure models.

Art lovers and supporters of the Arc’s work can watch artists in action and enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres by Local Ocean restaurant, music and dancing with the Blue Jellies, and a silent art auction. This event takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the aquarium, 2820 Ferry Slip Road, off U.S. Highway 101, just south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Proceeds support services for people with developmental disabilities and the Arc Gallery of Benton County. General admission is $50. Add figure drawing for $25. Registration is required for figure drawing due to limited space. The Hallmark Inn in Newport is offering rooms with a queen bed and fireplace for $75 a night when you mention the event.

The Arc Gallery is a department of the Arc of Benton County. Artwork of individuals with developmental disabilities who participate in the Arc’s ArtFocus and Art for Careers programs is shown and sold through gallery, 1885 N.W. Ninth St. in Corvallis. Some of the artists featured in the gallery have been working to learn the use of the media, build their composition skills, and express themselves through art for nearly five years.
