OSU women sign California golf star

Corvallis Gazette-Times

Cara Freeman of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., has signed an Oregon State women’s golf letter of intent and will join the team in 2007-08, coach Rise’ Lakowske said Tuesday.

Freeman is a senior at Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo. She tied for 13th at the 124-player California state regional championship, narrowly missing out on a spot in the state finals. She won the South Coast League championship twice and was a four-time all-league selection. She also made the Orange County Register’s all-county second-team twice.

Freeman has won 24 tournaments, including the Washington junior state title in 2000. She has three top-5 finishes on the AJGA circuit. She was ranked 11th among California’s seniors by the NJGS and 60th in the nation by the AJGA. She was named a 2005-06 Future Collegians World Tour second-team All-American.
