Corvallis Gazette-Times
Three-time Junior Olympic national qualifier Jereme Bigelow is headed to Oregon State, gymnastics coach Tanya Chaplin announced Tuesday.
Bigelow is from San Francisco, goes to International High and joins the team in the fall. She trains at Airborne Gymnastics, and is the second gymnast to sign. Jen Kesler of Kenmore, Wash. is the other.
“We are really excited that Jereme has chosen to pursue her academic and athletic goals at Oregon State,” Chaplin. “Jereme is an outstanding student and a talented gymnast. She has a wonderful personality and a strong desire to succeed at the collegiate level. She is a great addition to our gymnastics family.”
Bigelow qualified for the Junior Olympic nationals in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She tied for eighth in the all-around and finished second on the floor exercise at the Region I Level 10 Champion-ships. At the 2006 California state meet she took second on bars, beam, floor exercise and in the all-around.
Bigelow is a two-time uneven bars champion in California (2004 and 2005), earned a first place in bars at the 2004 Region I Championships and finished second on the balance beam.
“I am so excited to a part of the Oregon State team,” Bigelow said in a release. “I have great respect for the coaching staff and fell in love with the team immediately. When I took my official visit I knew the second I was there that Oregon State is where I belong.”
Perry update
Football team officials say results of the Monday MRI on offensive guard Jeremy Perry will be known late in the week.
He had his left knee examined after being injured on the final drive of Saturday’s game in Hawaii.
