OSU runners post highest team GPA

Gazette-Times

The Oregon State cross country team had the highest team grade-point average in the Pacific-10 Conference for the fall term, according to a list released Thursday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Beavers had a cumulative 3.48 GPA and earned National All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the third consecutive year, or in every season since the program was revived in 2004 after a 17-year hiatus.

OSU had 64 percent of its roster make the fall term honor roll, which requires 3.5 or better GPA, on a 4.0 scale. Eight of the 30 team members had a 4.0 GPA.

Stanford was named the All-Academic Women’s Cross Country Team of the Year. The Cardinal won the national championship, and their 3.47 team GPA was second to OSU in the Pac-10.
