CORVALLIS — Oregon State junior 197-pounder Travis Gardner has been added to the field for the NCAA wrestling tournament as an at-large selection.
He was one of the Pacific-10 Conference’s seven alternates and was added to the field when a wrestler from another conference school was deemed unable to compete.
The tournament is Thursday through Saturday at The Palace at Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich. Reynolds placed fourth at the Pac-10 meet and is 20-9 with seven pins.
He joins teammates senior Jeremy Larson (174), senior Ty Watterson (heavyweight), senior Eric Stevenson (125), senior Bobby Pfennigs (133), senior Derek Kipperberg (149), and sophomore Kyle Bressler (184) on the list of Beavers at the tournament.
OSU is ranked 19th in the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association poll. They were 17-2 overall, 8-1 in the Pac-10, and won the Pac-10 tournament in Jim Zalesky’s first season as their coach.
