CORVALLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

TUESDAY

STOLEN SAFE — 12:30 a.m., near the intersection of Northwest Third Street and Monroe Avenue. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction and found a gray safe inside. With permission from the driver, they opened the safe and found it contained items reported stolen three days earlier. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.

FRIDAY

SMASHED BY TRASH — Around midnight, 300 block of Northwest 26th Street. A resident of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity reported someone had smashed a window next to the fraternity’s front door measuring about 3-feet-by-9-feet, apparently using the lid of a washing machine that was lying on the front lawn. The fraternity was having a “theme decoration” party using “white trash” and there were car and washing machine parts littered across the front lawn. There were no suspects.

SATURDAY

INTRUDER — 1:33 a.m., 300 block of Northwest 11th Street. A woman woke after hearing sounds coming from downstairs in her home. She investigated and found a 20-year-old Corvallis man urinating on the floor of the dining room. Police reported the man’s blood alcohol content was .136 percent and he seemed to think he was in his own home. He was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, and being a minor in possession of alcohol, which is a violation.

BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

WEDNESDAY

NURSERY THEFT — 1:11 a.m., near Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Country Club Drive. When a deputy pulled up behind a pickup parked next to Shonnard’s Nursery, the driver took off. The deputy followed him to Lake Lyons Road in the Alsea area, where the pickup got stuck in some trees. The driver fled on foot. Items stolen from the nursery were found in the back of the pickup. Corvallis police dog, Xar, helped track the suspect and he was eventually arrested near Philomath. Deputies arrested Ryan Lee Cook, 28, of Alsea and charged him with attempting to elude police, reckless driving, second degree criminal trespass and theft.

SATURDAY

STOLEN VEHICLE — 1:15 a.m., Highway 34 near Marys Peak Road. A deputy arrested Mickel Lenn Dodd, 52, of Sandy, when he was spotted driving a stolen pickup truck. He was also wanted on two felony warrants out of Clackamas County. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a felony, and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and giving false information to police officers, both misdemeanors. He remains in custody in the Benton County jail.
