Hailstorm leads to Highway 20 crash

Medics wheel Patricia Seleen, 44, of Sweet Home to a Reach helicopter as firefighters work to extricate another person from a 2000 Honda Accord about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 20 near Waterloo Drive. According to Oregon State Police, Seleen was driving the Honda and lost control in a hailstorm, colliding nearly head on with a Lebanon city truck towing a trailer. Seleen was taken to the Corvallis hospital. Her passengers were Matthew J. Dierks, 16, of Sweet Home, also taken to the Corvallis hospital; and Jessica Lynn Dierks, 21, of Sweet Home, and Marissa Jean Johnson, 2, of Lebanon, both taken to the Lebanon hospital. The truck driver, Gary Ray Hood, 55, of Lebanon, went to the Lebanon hospital. None of the patients had life-threatening injuries, according to OSP. Also at the scene were the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Lebanon and Sweet Home firefighters.
