Oregon State pitching coach Dan Spencer is expected to take a position with the Texas Tech baseball program today at a press conference in Lubbock.
Spencer, who played for the Red Raiders from 1985 to ’87, has been at OSU for 11 seasons. He helped coach Pat Casey take the Beavers to the past three College World Series and win back-to-back titles the last two years.
Spencer developed the pitching staffs that were instrumental in those titles and coached players such as Dallas Buck, Kevin Gunderson, Jonah Nickerson, Mike Stutes, Joe Paterson and 2007 CWS Most Valuable Player Jorge Reyes.
Before coming to OSU, Spencer was the head coach at Green River Community College in Auburn, Wash., for five years and was an assistant coach at Tacoma Community College in 1990-’91.
Spencer joins a program that finished last in the Big 12 this year.
