ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center has a busy schedule for the next month, with a volunteer appreciation potluck, a computer class and the Alpine Half Century bike ride.
The center will give thanks to the volunteers who keep it running with a potluck at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Dessert will be provided.
On Tuesday, the center will hold a beginning computer class to discuss issues such as: Internet setup for secure communication; sharing files and printers between computers in your home; and freedom from wires for those who want a wireless home network.
The class will be from 7 to 9 p.m., and costs $5.
The Alpine Half Century ride is Aug. 18, and will take bicyclists on a 54-mile loop with a 4,000-foot elevation gain and loss. Riders will pedal past vineyards, Finley Wildlife Refuge and the Alsea Falls area.
There will be three rest areas and a support staff on the route.
Pre-register at ORBIKE.com or register from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the day of the event at Alpine Community Center, 25114 Alpine Road.
The cost to register is $25 before Aug. 4, and $28 afterward. Registration fees are a tax deductible contribution to the community center.
