Benton Hospice Service is sponsoring “End of Life Matters: Conversations to Help You Plan and Prepare,” a free brown bag lecture series, on three consecutive Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. this November in the Community Room at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library in celebration of National Hospice Month.
On Thursday, Gay Gruber, RN, CHPN, and Laura Hofer, MSW, LCSW, will present “Understanding Hospice,” a locally produced film that shows how hospice supports those with terminal illness and their families. Gruber, BHS patient care coordinator and Hofer, BHS social services coordinator, will be available to answer questions.
On Nov. 8, Shawn Foley, MD and attorney Jeanne Smith, will present “Advance Directives: A Step by Step Guide.” Foley is a family practice physician at Philomath Family Medicine and assistant medical director at Benton Hospice Service. Jeanne Smith is a partner at Jeanne Smith Associates in Corvallis who serves on the BHS Board of Directors.
On Nov. 15, Jeanne Smith will discuss “Estate and Disability Planning.” Smith’s Corvallis law practice focuses on all aspects of estate planning.
