The Crescent Valley Concert Choir, under the direction of Emily Thielen, placed third in the 5A division of the Oregon School Activities Association state choir championships. The choir also took first place in the sight reading competition held May 2 at George Fox University in Newberg.

Crescent Valley also placed well at last week’s OSAA band and orchestra competition May 6 through 9 at the LaSells Stewart Center in Corvallis. The Camerata Orchestra, under the direction of Charles Creighton, finished second in both the 5A and 6A string orchestra divisions. The Wind Ensemble Band, under the direction of Kris Janes, placed second in the 5A band division and in the sight reading competition.

Corvallis High School’s band, under the direction of Marshall Price, finished fifth in the 5A band division.
