Donald Ben Unger

Oct. 7, 1932 — May 23, 2008

Donald Ben Unger passed away on the morning of Friday, May 23, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

Don was born in October of 1932 in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was the son of Ben and Louise Unger and had one sister, Susan. Don attended Excelsior Springs High School, where he was the senior class treasurer. Don attended the University of Kansas, William Jewell College and the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in physics, a Master of Arts in philosophy and a Master of Library Science. Don worked as an aerospace engineer and later as a librarian at Oregon State University’s Kerr Library. His interests included vintage automobiles and motorcycles, photography, music, literature and the family pets. His son, Geoffrey, and his sister, Susan, survive him.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, in the Agriculture Leaders Room at LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University.
