The installation of The Arc of Benton County’s board of officers and directors for 2008-09 was done by Bill Lynch, executive director, Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities, on May 18 at the Benton County Clubhouse in Adair. Joining seated members of the board of directors are President Michael Hoffman, Vice President Verlene Melero, Secretary Julia Neuman, Treasurer John Mykrantz and directors Jeffrey McCubbin, Barbara Sackett and John Kruger.

Meg Miranda, paraprofessional for Linus Pauling Middle School in the Corvallis School District, has been selected as the 2008 Oregon Library Media Paraprofessional of the Year by the Oregon Association of School Libraries. This is the highest award given by the OASL, which each year honors one exemplary elementary school librarian, one secondary school librarian, one school library paraprofessional, and one school or district administrator.

Connie Hunsaker of Philomath was recently honored at the Wells Fargo National Sales and Service Conference at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Hunsaker works as a lead teller at the Wells Fargo bank in Philomath and was among the 32 recipients from Oregon and southwest Washington who, based on their sales or service in 2007, qualified to attend with a guest.

Corvallis resident Shannon Young’s book “The Little Saguaro ~ el Sahuarito” has won the “Bronze Medal for a Multicultural Children’s Book” at the 2008 Independent Publisher Book Awards.
Training and Development
Marion “Lawrie” Theurer, of Applegate Door Co. in Philomath, recently earned the “Commercial Rolling Door Systems Technician Certification” at the International Door Association Expo 2008, in Las Vegas.
