South wins Schwab bowl

Corvallis Gazette-Times

West Albany High graduate Will Murphy scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter and the South team claimed a 24-6 victory in the Les Schwab Bowl on Saturday night at PGE Park.

Murphy was one of three West Albany graduates on the South team, which also featured Corvallis’ Daryl Watkins. Scot Foss and Neil Crook were the other WA players, while coach Randy Nyquist was an assistant for the all-star team.

The Les Schwab Bowl pits graduated seniors from 6A and 5A schools against each other in a benefit football game.
