Dax Dilbeck, a 6-foot-1, 171-pound athlete from Deer Creek High in Edmonds, Okla., verbally committed to the Oregon State football team this week for the 2009 season.
Other school that offered Dilbeck financial aid packages included Army, Dartmouth and Princeton. However, attending OSU’s June camp made the difference for Dilbeck and the coaches in reaching a mutual agreement.
Dilbeck played quarterback and rushed for 1,235 yards and 17 touchdowns, while passing for 547 yards and seven TDs as a junior last season.
He’ll change positions in college, and could play defensive back or wide receiver for the Beavers.
This is the fifth committment OSU has received for the 2009 class.
The others are quarterback Cody Vaz (Stockton St. Mary High), offensive guard Michael Beaton (Dallas), offensive lineman John Braun (West Albany) and linebacker Rueben Robinson (Hamilton of Chandler, Ariz.).
NCAA rules prohibit OSU coaches from commenting until he has signed a letter of intent.
