Lucila V. Jensen

Feb. 18, 1925 — June 26, 2008

Lucila V. Jensen of Laguna Woods, Calif., formerly a 32-year resident of Corvallis, died on June 26 in Bogota, Colombia, where she was visiting with family. She was 83.

She was born in Socorro Santander, Colombia, and moved to Sunset Drive in Corvallis in 1971, when she married Dr. J. Granville Jensen, who was a faculty member at Oregon State University from 1946 until his retirement in 1977.

During her years in Corvallis, Lucila was a violinist with the OSU Symphony and several chamber groups as well as a member of P.E.O. She was also an award-winning china and porcelain painter whose work was commissioned by many homeowners and public organizations in Corvallis. Along with her husband, she was an avid world traveler.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Alvarez of Bogota, Colombia; Clemencia Yousefi of Irvine, Calif.; and Juan Carlos Restrepo of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services were held in Bogota, Columbia. The family has requested that donations in memory of Lucila be made to The Mario Pastega House Endowment at 3505 N.W. Samaritan Drive, Corvallis, Oregon 97330.
