Beverley Howard

Feb. 29, 1928 — Aug. 21, 2008

Beverley passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, at the age of 80. She was a leap-year baby, born Beverley Glee Hansell, Feb. 29, 1928. The seventh and last child of Lydia and Henry Hansell, she was born and raised in Corvallis, where she remained her entire life.

She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. Her passion and vocation was homemaking. She would laugh at this, but she loved to crochet and work crossword puzzles. She raised two daughters and married the love of her life, Carl Robert “Bob” Howard, on July 25, 1971, and joined his family with four more daughters.

Their motto was, “Love is … not just someone you want to be with, but someone you can’t bear to be without!” That was how they lived their lives.

In retirement they were constant companions enjoying RV trips to Moolack Park on the Oregon coast and frequent trips to Reno, Nev. Either they won “big” or limped home with barely enough money to stop in Aden for a milkshake.

She is survived by her sister, LaVerne Martin of King City; all six daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Holmes of King City, Nancy and Dave Storer of El Dorado Hills, Calif., Kathy Rush of Corvallis, Janis Veniot of Modesto, Calif., Sue and Ed Boyce of Corvallis, and Denny and Peggy Giles of Corvallis; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no service. Her ashes, together with those of her husband, Bob, will be scattered at sea in the Pacific Ocean.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in care of DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home.
