Ernest C. Hansen was born in the old Hood River Nursing Home in 1921. His parents were Therkild and Karoline Hansen. He went to Pine Grove School in 1927; then to Hood River High School until graduation in 1939. He worked for the A.G.A., J. P. Thompson and Ralph Perry.
Ernie served in the Army during World War II, returning to civilian life in 1946. In 1952, he went to work for Pacific Power and Light Company as a storekeeper, retiring in 1983 as a field estimator. He was a member of the American Legion VFW and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed baseball, football, reading and mountain climbing.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Victor and Elmer. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Elaine Hansen of Redwood City, Calif., and Lorita Hansen of Hood River; two nephews, Robert Hansen of Hood River and Roger Hansen of Redwood City; one niece, Nancy Kiyokawa of Hood River; five grandnieces; and one grandnephew.
