Wedding: Spees — Schmidt

Wilma Spees and Walter Schmidt were married Aug. 3 in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Pat Chuinard in Walt’s in backyard and patio.

Wilma’s attendants were her grandson, Todd Marshall, of Massachusetts, and her two daughters, Cheryl Marshall of Brush Prairie, Wash., and Linda Klein of Pleasanton, Calif.

The flower girls were Walt’s great nieces, Laura and Rose Myers of Maple Valley, Wash.

Walt’s attendants were his grandson, Brian Wacher, of Reno, Nev., and his nephew, Ron Popp, of Albany.

Brooke Chaney of Albany sang the Hawaiian wedding song. Wilma’s granddaughter, Kim Brown, of Long Beach, Calif., gave a reading, and granddaughter Jean Marshall of Massachusetts took care of the guest book and handed out leis to everyone.

The ceremony was followed by a buffet luncheon on the patio for close friends and family.

Wilma lived in Philomath and Walt is a Corvallis native that has operated Schmidt’s Garden Center for the past 49 years. They are at home in Walt’s home in Corvallis.
