Comings and goings

John Faulconer, who has an extensive background in construction and remodeling in the Corvallis area, recently joined Keller Williams Mid-Willamette Market Center in real estate sales.

JP Kaesermann, ND, MSAOM, recently joined Heartspring Wellness Center. He received a bachelor’s degree in human biology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and obtained massage/bodywork training at East-West College in Portland. Kaesermann earned a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and a master’s degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle. He practiced massage/bodywork from 1997 to 2001 in Corvallis.

Luann Vitello and Scott Powell recently joined Anderson Group CPAs, LLC. Vitello is the payroll department manager. She received her accounting experience as a CPA in Pennsylvania, where she was the team leader managing audit teams. Powell is a staff accountant. He previously worked in California as a controller and chief operating officer for several businesses where he implemented and improved existing accounting systems and databases.

Cardwell Hill Cellars was awarded a gold medal for its 2006 Estate Bottled Pinot Noir at the recent Oregon State Fair in Salem. Cardwell Hill Cellars is a family-owned winery, tasting room and vineyards located northwest of Philomath.

Linn-Benton Community College named Bill Hubel, executive vice president and CEO of Citizens Bank, as this year’s Atteberry Award winner.

The Atteberry Award is given each year to honor an LBCC Professional Technical Advisory Committee member for his or her outstanding contribution to LBCC. Hubel, a Corvallis resident, has served on the Business Technology Advisory Committee for more than eight years, serving as chair and co-chair during that time.

The award was established in 1992 in honor of Dr. Pat Atteberry, who served as a member of the vocational education committee from 1977 to 1992. More than 400 community and industry leaders serve on 38 advisory committees for more than 60 LBCC professional technical programs.

Joyce Brown and Ginger Peterson each received Pastega Excellence Awards at the Linn-Benton Community College annual fall in-service on Sept. 16.

The awards honor one faculty member and one classified staff member for their outstanding contributions to the LBCC community.

Brown, of Albany, an LBCC Family Literacy Program faculty member, won the Pastega Faculty Excellence Award. She has worked at LBCC since 1985.

Peterson, of Monroe, administrative assistant for the LBCC Business Division, won the Pastega Classified Excellence Award. She has worked at LBCC since 1998.

Each winner received a $1,000 honorarium and her name engraved on the Mario and Alma Pastega Faculty and Staff Excellence plaques in the LBCC College Center Distinguished Staff Gallery.

Mario Pastega, owner of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. in Corvallis, started the annual awards through the LBCC Foundation in 2000 as a way to recognize faculty and staff for excellence in their work.

Mike Holland recently received the Linn-Benton Community College Distinguished Staff Award. He started at LBCC in 1995 as executive assistant to the president. He retired in June from his position as vice president for administrative and student affairs.

Holland was nominated by his peers for his commitment to LBCC, to the staff and to students. He was lauded as an advocate for the college who took on challenges with thoughtful insight and great fairness.

Officers and directors

Kris Winter of Oregon State University; Steve Francoeur of Georgia Pacific Halsey; Zel Brook, a local artist; and Doug Bourdo of The Corvallis Clinic recently joined the United Way of Benton and Lincoln Counties as board members.

News and notes

T. Gerding Construction Co., a Corvallis based design/build contractor, is managing construction of a new $7 million multi-use class A office building along the waterfront in Albany for Ohanamula LLC. The building, designated the Wheel House, will be four stories with a restaurant on the lower level complete with riverfront dining. The top three floors will house office suites. Ryan McAlister is the T. Gerding project manager and the construction superintendent is Dan Bates. DJ Architecture is providing design services for the project. Construction began in August and completion is expected by July 2009.
