Mary Marcella Weltzin passed away Sept.19 at the age of 95 at her home.
She was born in the family home in Echo on Sept. 8, 1913, to Pamela Teel and Elmer S. Spike. Her early schooling was in Echo. She then attended the O.A.C. in Corvallis for two years studying pharmacy. She was a member of Good Samaritan Church of Corvallis, and a 50-year member of Pendleton Bushee chapter 19 of Eastern Star, Sigma Kappa Sorority and chapter BP of PEO.
She married Carl J. Weltzin on Oct. 15, 1953, in Oregon. They wheat farmed near Echo until moving to Corvallis in 1949. She enjoyed her family, gardening, braiding rugs and fishing and hunting trips in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon and the Canadian Rockies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; sisters Frances Spike, Eleanor Oehler, Mildred Berry and brothers Elmer, Steve and Bob Spike. She is survived by son Wallace C. Weltzin of Italy, and daughter Linda G. Cook, son-in-law Mark D. Cook, grandchildren Melissa G. Cook and Chad M.C. Cook of Corvallis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
McHenry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with cremation and private internment in Crystal Lake mausoleum beside her husband Carl.
