Cornerstone scores shredding success

Cornerstone Associates, a Corvallis-based provider of vocational training and job opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities, recently hosted our first Community Paper Shredding event. We are very thankful to those who contributed to making this event an outstanding success, including volunteers from Citizens Bank of Corvallis, Dutch Bros., the Eckroth family, Cynthia Stevenson, Debbie Griesmeyer and the staff and associates of Packaging Plus, a division of Cornerstone Associates. We also thank members of the community who made generous donations when dropping off their paper! We were pleased to shred more than 7,000 pounds of paper, which will be recycled with a local pulp mill. We hope to make this an annual event and thank the citizens of the mid-Willamette Valley for supporting this event.

Arc celebrates dance success

Starker Arts Park showcased The Arc Dance/benefit to support programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Arc thanks Karen Emery and the Corvallis Parks and Recreation Division for co-sponsoring the event in this beautiful site. The Flow and Deep Woods bands entertained with music that seemed to chase away the clouds. People with and without disabilities gathered, and together, we let the good times roll!

The Arc thanks organizers Pam and Ben Wald and the myriad of people who volunteered to sell tickets, post information, offer refreshments and share their talents.

Radio Ray Pitts lent his enthusiasm to the door-prize drawings of lottery tickets and donated dolls and teddy bears, swim passes and funny money for The Arc’s thrift stores.

The First Alternative Co-op brought delicious, healthy snacks to share.

Good company, good music, good food and good weather amid natural beauty. What could be better?

Family bakes up success for CASA

Our family would like to extend a sincere message of thanks to our friends, neighbors and community members who came out in droves to support our annual bread and cookie sale!

A crowd had formed and patiently waited while we set up the table and shade tent for our sale, and within one hour we sold 675 cookies, 45 quick breads and 62 yeasted breads.

Sales combined with generous donations added up to more than $1,350 for CASA Voices for Children of Benton County.

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic response to our family’s efforts to help others in our community. We hope to see you next year!
