“Christian Ethics in Politics” — Sen. Frank Morse will lead an adult education forum at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, 602 S.W. Madison Ave., to discuss the influence of Christian ethics on the political process. Morse is an ordained Disciples of Christ minister who grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Northwest Christian College in Eugene, before earning his master’s degree in business from Oregon State University. Piano concert — Latvian piano prodigy Reinis Zarins will present a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Austin Auditorium at LaSells Stewart Center, 875 S.W. 26th St., as a benefit for Bridge Builders International. Zarins, who has performed throughout Europe and won numerous international piano competitions, will perform works from Beethoven, Prokofiev and Schumann. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $6 for students and are available at Parable Christian Store, Gracewinds Music and at the door. Information: 929-5627.
Middle East peacemaker — Local human rights activist Joshua Hough will give a talk and show photographs from his two-year experience in the West Bank at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 1165 N.W. Monroe Ave. Hough is a volunteer with Christian Peacemaker Teams and has been living in the South Hebron Hills, accompanying Palestinian children to and from school and escorting shepherds and farmers. The event is sponsored by Corvallis-Albany Friends of Middle East Peace. Information: 766-8229.

Biblical astronomy talks — The Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3085 Grand Prairie Road S.E., will host a series of presentations on biblical astronomy beginning with “The Gospel in the Stars” at 7 p.m. Friday. Another talk, “The Heavenly Calendar,” is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, followed by “The Signs of the Times” at 5 p.m. An evening star observation will be offered later in the evening if weather permits.
