Evelyn Hanson

Sept. 4, 1930 — Nov. 7, 2008

Evelyn Hanson of Alsea died Friday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. She was 78. She was born in Missouri to John and Ethel Ritchey. She grew up in Missouri and moved to Oregon while in high school. She met her first husband, Marvin Pitzer, in Alsea. Together, they raised three children on a farm in Alsea. She later married Jack Hanson, who died in 1959.

Evelyn loved her garden and the hummingbirds. She enjoyed metal detecting and caring for her own mother.

She is survived by her children, Leon Pitzer of Corvallis, Janice Plemmons of Ritter, and Carol Feyerherm of Lebanon; mother, Ethel Ritchey of Alsea; sisters, Joan Pellett and Joyce Hildebrand of Alsea; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hanson.

A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Alsea Cemetery. Arrangements are by McHenry Funeral Home.
