Woman hit by car still ‘critical’

A Corvallis woman remains listed in critical condition at Oregon Health & Sciences University after being struck by a car Nov. 8.

The relatives of Julia Penn Delacruz, 35, have set up a fund in her name at the Wells Fargo branch in Corvallis for anyone wishing to donate to help pay her medical bills.

Delacruz was going to work at El Sol de Mexico — crossing Circle Boulevard just east of Kings Boulevard — at 8:52 p.m. when she was struck by a car. Police identified the driver of the car as Constance Ash, 82, of Corvallis.

Luis Perez, Delacruz’s boss at the restaurant, said it was a horrific accident. “Her shoes were found 50 feet away from where her body landed,” he said.

Benton County District Attorney Jon Haroldson said he couldn’t comment on the particulars of a case still under investigation. “All I can say is that this is a great tragedy,” he said.
