Moevao a game-time decision

Oregon State quarterback Lyle Moevao missed his second full practice Thursday afternoon due to a sore throwing shoulder, and coach Mike Riley said it will be a game-time decision as to who starts.

Sean Canfield took the majority of the snaps in all three practices this week. The Beavers will have a walk-through today, which is a light practice, before the team leaves for Tucson, Ariz., for Saturday’s game.

“Lyle didn’t throw, but he’s a lot better,” Riley said. “So we’ll hold off the decision until game time and see how he does. We have a good workout for (today), so it’s not beyond the possibility of him playing (Saturday).”

Moevao was injured Nov. 1 against Arizona State when a tackler drove him into the ground, throwing shoulder first. He was relieved by Canfield, who led the team to victory.

Canfield went on to start and win the next game at UCLA, but Moevao returned in a wining effort last week against California. He performed well but was rusty.

Moevao didn’t report problems after the game, but had to slow down after starting Tuesday’s practice.

“It just feels a little weak,” Moevao said.
