Aaron Drew Grotefend

May 14, 1964 — Nov. 9, 2008

Aaron Drew Grotefend of Fremont, Calif., died Sunday in Fremont. He was 44.

Aaron was born to John and Frances Seits Grotefend on May 14, 1964, in Portland. He was nicknamed “Double A” by his great-grandfather Grotefend who visited him in Wailuku, Hawaii, where Aaron lived in 1965 with his parents and sisters, Erika Dee and Inger Ann.

Aaron graduated from high school in Sebastopol, Calif. Then he traveled to Las Vegas, Nev., to attend gaming and electronics technology school, where he earned associate’s degrees in each field. He was employed mostly in the high-tech fields in Fremont, Calif.

He enjoyed building model airplanes and reading science fiction.

Aaron is survived by his parents; his son’s mother, Sharon Schuetz of Fremont, Calif.; his companion, Grace Kanninen; son Zachary Drew Grotefend of Fremont, Calif.; sister, Erika DuBois of Las Vegas, Nev.; uncles Manford “Lee” Seits of Leaburg, George “Joe” Seits of Logsden and Larry Seits of Newberg; and aunts Mary “Betty” Seits Hendrix Coffey of Salem and Beverly Seits Hendrix of Gold Beach.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Inger Ann Grotefend; uncle Ancel “Bob” Seits; aunt Nova Ann Burkett; paternal grandparents Robert and Grace Hering Grotefend; and maternal grandparents Ancel and Eva Seits.

Memorial contributions in Aaron’s name can be made to Corvallis Community Outreach. Arrangements are by Grissom’s Cremation and Burial Centers in Fremont, Calif.
