Oregon State swept by Wildcats

Gazette-Times

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Oregon State volleyball team suffered its eighth straight loss after being swept by Arizona in Pacific-10 Conference play on Sunday.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-17, 25-18.

“Confidence is a fickle thing,” coach Taras Liskevych said. “Winning is a habit, and losing is a habit, and we need to orchestrate positive energy toward a winning mode again. We’ve slipped this second half o

f the Pac-10 schedule and our execution in individual skills, especially passing and serving, hasn’t been as sharp. But I thought Jill (Sawatzky) had some spark today.”

Junior Rachel Rourke posted a team-high 12 kills for the Beavers (14-15, 3-13), while s

enior Ashley Evans had 14 digs.

Junior Camilla Ah-Hoy nearly earned her ninth double-double of the season with 29 assists and eight digs. Three players, Ah-Hoy, Rourke and junior Lexie Rathgeber all blocked had two blocks, with Rourke earning two solos.

Ar

izona’s Tiffany Owens paced the Wildcats offense with 13 kills, while also finishing with a match-high 17 digs. Jacy Norton added five blocks.

nford on Friday at 7 p.m.
