Hit-and-run driver left behind a mess
In Corvallis we like to think that as a community we pull together when things turn out a little sticky; however, it saddens us to say that this didn’t happen. Around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 15, on the corner of 35th and Harrison, our Nissan blue-teal truck was hit on the back driver’s-side bumper.
From the parts left at the scene, we think it might be a silver mid-size car or smaller SUV and would have damage to its front passenger side bumper or along the passenger side of the car. The lights or the rear-view mirror would be broken, since there were many silver shards on the ground.
We are asking anyone who has any information to please contact the Corvallis Police Department, reference police report 2008c06459. The police only file a report, but do not investigate, so if anyone knows or sees anything, please call. Thank you to all.

In handling Gaza, Israel steadily breaks promises
In her recent letter, Rachel Peck repeats the same song-and-dance spewed by mainstream media that censors copy. (See www.ifamericansknew.org).
United Nations human rights envoy Richard Falk is explicit: “It is -. painful for me, as an American Jew, to feel compelled to portray the ongoing -. abuse of the Palestinian people -. (with the) inflammatory metaphor -. ‘Holocaust’-.” (see “Slouching toward a Palestinian Holocaust”).
Falk describes Israel’s punishment of Palestinians as a “crime against humanity.” He notes: “-. the desperate plight of -. Gaza has been acknowledged by -. the Secretary General of the U.N., the President of the General Assembly, and the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights.”
Falk asked the International Criminal Court to investigate whether Israeli leaders should be prosecuted for violating international criminal law. Karen AbuZayd, head of U.N. food distribution, states: “This is a humanitarian crisis deliberately imposed by political actors.”
Furthermore, Falk reports Israel first broke the five-month truce: “-. The truce was maintained by Hamas despite the failure of Israel to -. improve -. (Gaza’s) living conditions -. The recent -. violence occurred after an Israeli incursion that killed several alleged Palestinian militants.”
Israel breaks most promises it makes. Israel didn’t open Gaza’s borders during the truce; Israeli Navy ships fire on Gazan fishermen at three to seven miles out, in spite of Israel’s Oslo acceptance of a 20-mile limit. And, after it promised to stop settlements, Israel doubled settlement construction!
Israel’s Deputy Defense Minister Vilnai said there’d be a shoah (Holocaust) in Gaza; can’t get much plainer.

Tough lessons learned from a cancer journey
My mom recently died from cancer. In our five-year journey we learned not to fear cancer, but to fight it, and you can, too, by following these key steps.
• Stop eating meat, dairy and sugar. Decades of research have consistently shown that these foods are responsible for most common cancers. Meat and dairy foods produce harmful chemicals and reactions in the body that greatly increase the chances of cancer cells forming. These foods also acidify the bloodstream, providing a perfect breeding ground for cancer. Since cancer cells do not metabolize energy normally, but feed best on sugar, eating a
sugar-loaded diet (the typical American diet) is like throwing gasoline on the cancer fire.
• Exercise vigorously until you are hot. Cancer cells die at 106F. Not coincidentally this is the same temperature of a high fever. Fever is nature’s way to kill disease in our bodies and cancer is no exception. Exercising until you sweat helps generate the internal body heat, like a fever, that stimulates the immune system and kills cancer cells. Research shows that vigorous exercise reduces cancer risk by two-thirds.
• Take natural supplements to boost your immune system when fighting cancer. Most oncologists are totally clueless in this area. Visit a naturopathic physician or do your own research to learn of the many foods, vitamins and herbs, which can strengthen your immune system.
• Get multiple treatment opinions. Sadly, most oncologists are only familiar with treatments available locally and are often unaware of new cancer treatments used elsewhere.

Let’s consider all aspects of ‘shop local’ idea
I’ve been encouraged by recent letter writers to shop locally and not support chain stores or corporations that don’t originate in Oregon. I think that’s a wonderful idea. We can boycott them and force them out of Oregon.
Let’s start with Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Shari’s Restaurant. How about Albertsons, Safeway and WinCo?
Office Depot and Staples can be filed under obsolete. U-Haul can be sent packing. Coldwell Banker and Prudential Real Estate should move to a new home. Hewlett-Packard can print a new zip code. Home Depot, Border’s Books and Café and Michael’s Arts and Crafts store can shop for a new state.
Carmike and Regal Cinemas can seek entertainment elsewhere. Rite Aid can be dispensed with. Bon voyage to Holiday Inn and Hotel 6. Auto Zone and all automobile dealerships should hit the road. I’ll bet the readers can come up with additional businesses.
I’m sorry if we put hundreds of university students and residents out of work, and take away their benefits. It’s the principle of the whole idea. We Oregonians don’t need anybody!
