Back in mid-January, the newspaper received an email from an area resident who was upset with a tattered American flag that was flying over the Philomath Post Office. This person just wanted to see the old flag taken down and replaced with a new one and she would even donate it.
A couple of weeks ago, she provided me with an update and this has a happy ending. She ran into an individual at the Alsea Post Office who also works at the Philomath Post Office. After sharing her thoughts on the flag, it wasn't long before a new one went up the flagpole in our city.
So thanks to the post office employee who helped with that issue and thanks to the person who stayed on top of it. To me, the flag is a sacred symbol of our country and it was nice to hear from someone who was so patriotic and wanted to take action.
