It's been 10 years since Kevin Boss played with the New York Giants in the Super Bowl and with the next edition of the newspaper falling on the Wednesday before the NFL's big weekend, I thought I'd try to catch up with him for a feature story.
But beyond our talk of his Super Bowl experience, he also mentioned a few athletes he's working with through his Boss Sports Performance training facility in Bend.
One of those happens to be on a Super Bowl roster this weekend in Eagles' backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld. Twin brothers Jacob and Cody Hollister of the New England Patriots also spend time coming to Bend to train with Boss.
A couple of local Bend skiers who will be competing in the Olympics work out at Boss's gym — Tommy Ford and Laurenne Ross — so it's been a busy month.
That's not to mention Kyle Higashioka, a catcher in the New York Yankees system who hopes to work his way into a backup role behind Gary Sanchez. Higashioka recently moved to Bend with his wife (her parents live there).
It's always interesting to hear about who Kevin is working with through his Bend training facility. I hope one day to make my way over there to check it out.
