A newcomer to the varsity roster tonight, Ben Reams got into the game late in the fourth quarter in Philomath's 57-44 victory.
Reams, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, didn't exactly have a smooth transition from bench to court. It appeared he had some issues getting his warm-ups off and checking into the game. There was less than a minute remaining in the contest and coach Blake Ecker was clearing his bench.
Of course, he made it into the game and quickly made his way to the free-throw line for a pair of foul shots with 30 seconds left. Reams hit the first one but missed the second. Then with 26 seconds left, he was fouled again and went to the line. This time he missed the first and made the second and had two points for the game.
Reams had a season-high 13 points in a JV game early this season against South Albany. Through four JV games, he's averaging 7.8 points per game.
