Pac-12 opponent bowl projections

You’ve read my bowl projects for the Pacific-12 Conference in my previous blog here.

Now it’s time to see who the conference faces. When I refer to the Pac-12 team, it’s not a done deal. They are from my projections.

Rose Bowl: Stanford vs. Winner of Big Ten title game. It looks like Nebraska is the class of the conference among eligible teams.

Fiesta Bowl: Oregon vs. Big 12 champ. That would be Kansas State or Oklahoma with one more week to go. They are tied with tough games ahead. KSU holds the tie-break head-to-head.

Alamo Bowl: Oregon State vs. Big 12 No. 3 pick. This could be the No. 3 or No. 4 pick if there’s two Big 12 BCS teams or not. I’m say there will be one with Oklahoma when looking at the BCS standings because one of the ACC, Big 12 or Pac-12 No. 2 teams are going to be left out of the BCS. So I’m going with Oklahoma State here.

Holiday Bowl: UCLA vs. Big 12 No. 4 pick. Next up would be Texas Tech or TCU. I’m going with Tech because of win over TCU earlier in the season.

Sun Bowl: USC vs. ACC No. 4. Virginia Tech gets the nod, but it’s slim pickings from this conference after the top two teams.

Las Vegas Bowl: Washington vs. Mountain West champ. Boise State is the likely candidate, if it beats Nevada this week. If it doesn’t, then Fresno State goes here.

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl: Arizona State vs. Navy. The academy was set to go here as long as it’s bowl eligible and it is.

New Mexico Bowl: Arizona vs. Mountain West No. 5. Nevada accepted the invitation Sunday night.

Is there a chance we could play Texas in the Alamo Bowl? If so, do you think we match up better vs. OSU or Texas? In my opinion, I'd much rather play Texas...If Texas loses to KSU this weekend (which I assume they will) and OSU loses to arguably one of the hottest teams in the nation in Baylor, do we play Texas in the Alamo since Texas has the tiebreaker over OSU? Of course, this assumes we get past Nicholls St.
