Carolyn Cooley of Brownsville has recently joined Anderson Group, Certified Public Accountants, LLC, in Corvallis as a payroll specialist. Cooley has worked in payroll for the last 10 years.

William Muth, M.D., recently joined Samaritan Health Services as an infectious disease specialist. Muth is accepting patients at Samaritan Infectious Disease in Corvallis.

Muth earned a bachelor's degree in biology from West Virginia University and a medical degree from Marshall University, also in West Virginia. He completed an internship and residency training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Muth is board-certified in infectious disease. He joins Samaritan from practice at Monson Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich.

Profit and loss

Willamette Valley Bank recently released its results for the year ended Dec. 31, 2008. Net income for the year amounted to $568,308 which delivered earnings per share of $.63.

Willamette Valley Bank is a community bank headquartered in Salem, operating full-service branches in Salem, Keizer, and Albany and Home Loan Centers in Silverton and Corvallis. The bank also operates Bank of Oregon Home Loan Centers in six other cities.

For the year, total loans increased from $93 million to $100 million, up 8 percent over 2007. Gross revenues rose from $9.2 million to $10.3 million, an increase of 12 percent. Total assets increased from $104 million to $116 million, an increase of 12 percent.

Spindrift Cellars of Philomath announced that its Spindrift Cellars 2006 Pinot Noir and Spindrift Cellars 2006 Pinot Noir Reserve both earned Gold Medals at the 2009 Newport Seafood & Wine Festival this weekend. Spindrift Cellars is a family winery owned by Matt and Tabitha Compton.

Two wineries near the Benton County line north of Corvallis also earned medals at the Newport event: Airlie Winery received a bronze medal for its 2005 Pinot Noir, and Emerson Vineyards received a bronze medal for its 2007 Chardonnay.
